Screenshots

Posted by Daniel Cooper

Screenshots is a “second-screen” companion app developed for social media interaction while watching a favorite TV show. Designed for Android tablets, Screenshots provides viewers with multiple ways to interact with television content and friends while  competing for fan supremacy!

Viewers receive a “word of the show,” and each time they hear the word during the broadcast, they have a few seconds to buzz in to earn points. Viewers can challenge their friends or compete against other fans watching the show. This highly interactive app lets you grab screen shots for sharing and tagging. Viewers can also post to Twitter and filter tweets based on a show’s hash tags. Screenshots can be re-skinned for any program.

Using leading-edge technology provided by industry partners, the Center for Media Design’s Insight and Research’s Design and Development team is creating applications like Screenshots that allow viewers to interact with TV content in new ways. This interdisciplinary team includes faculty and students from Journalism, Telecommunications and Computer Science departments at Ball State University.
